Adam Wrote Feb 28, 2002 Well I just received my Synthesizers.com QSS44 Modular System earlier this week. I just wanted to post a few bits of information about this beast. I know that for some people the Synthesizers.com modules and systems seem "too good to be true". Let me tell you that this is not true...the sound and build quality is excellent! Over the last 5-6 years I have had the chance to own or use a lot of classic and modern modular systems ( Moog 15, Serge, Doepfer, Analog Solutions, Arp 2600, EML Electrocomp, EMS VCS-3, Korg MS20, Polyfusion ) and I was originally a bit nervous about getting involved with the Synthesizers.com systems.....mainly for fear of being a let down. I have read allot of posts that talk about how nice these systems look (which is an understatement, they look beautiful) but not enough comments on the sound or usability. So here goes..... 1- the Q106 oscillators sound excellent...nice rich and powerful tone, if you like the Moog Osc's.. you will like these. 2- the Q109 envelopes are nice and snappy...work excellent, perfect....once again, if you like Moog......... 3- the Q107 state variable filter is very nice....I am still checking it out, but the lowpass output is excellent ...both for typical synth use OR for external audio processing....definately has that wet sound. 4- the Q150 transistor ladder filter is excellent...although it is not an exact Moog clone (which is fine) it sounds FANTASTIC..very musical...again, both for typical synth use OR for external audio processing 5- the Q108 VCA's work great ! ...... I will post some more info later over the next few weeks as I become more familiar with this set-up. Bottom line is......sound and operation..and the Synthesizers.com exceeds ALL of my expectations for a "moog style" modular analog system (which is what I prefer personally). And seriously, I just can't get over the prices... they are amazing for these modules....an equivalent Moog Modular System....it would cost close to $15000..AND have a noisier output. I am not saying that I don't want a real Moog, I am only using it as a direct comparison.....because I DO LOVE MOOG...and now I LOVE SYNTHESIZERS.COM too!!! Thanks for listening! Adam
