Many people have requested a Moog 960-type sequencer for their Synthesizers.com modular. In the past, there has been a difference between what people ask for and what they actually order (called the "I'll take 2" syndrome on the forum). So, this Pre-Order plan, although at odds with how I usually introduce products, allows me to make sure there will be enough sales to justify the engineering and inventory.

Q960 Sequencer Functionality
The Q960 will have the same layout as a Moog 960 Sequential Controller and use virtually all of the same front-panel components including incandescent lamps, knobs, etc. There may be minor differences. It will offer the highly sought-after 'Skip' function, 3rd row timing, Trigger In/Out for each stage, etc.

The Q960/Q962 will be as functionally equivalent as possible (probably completely) to the Moog versions but will use modern circuitry. ICs used in the Moog versions haven't been made in decades so newer components will be used instead. Component changes will be transparent to the user and no functional differences will result. Voltages will be created with analog components (no D/A), digital components will only be used for switching, gating, counting, shifting just as in the Moog design. The Q960 will consume 8 spaces just as the Moog version, but use our standard power supply (+15,-15,+5).

Moog 960/962 Module Information
You can find more details about the Moog 960 and 962 from http://www.moogarchives.com. From the menu on the left, select INSTRUMENTS, then select MODULES. Don't forget to send a note to Roger Luther for his great website.

Q962 Switch
Along with the Q960 Sequencer, a Q962 which duplicates the Moog 962 Sequential Switch module will be offered. The 962 is basically a shift register that allows the 960 sequencer to alternate rows, and is capable of other, more exotic functions when patched appropriately. The Q962 will consume 1 space just as the Moog version, but use our standard power supply (+15,-15,+5).

Aid Module(s)
I may also make available an Aid module(s) that provide other functions such as or'ing of gate (trigger) outputs, etc. as found on the Moog 961.

Pricing
The Q960 Sequencer price is $800.00. The pre-order downpayment amount is 25% ($200.00)
The Q962 Switch price is $160.00. The pre-order downpayment amount is 25% ($40.00)

Pre-Order Deadline
If I don't get enough pre-orders by Feb. 28, 2005, I will return funds and cancel the project.

Product Delivery
When the products become available you will be notified and given instructions about the balance of payment. Once the final payment is received, you will be shipped the products within our normal shipping time (1-4 weeks). If, for some reason, we cannot meet the dates stated, you will be given the option of a refund. After all pre-orders are filled, others orders will be filled.

Rules of the Game
Deadline for placing your pre-order is Feb. 28, 2005.
I reserve the right to cancel the project and return pre-order funds at any time.
I may make minor changes to the design, parts used, or to the terms (this page).
Approximate availablity will be Aug. 1, 2005.
Pre-orders cannot be canceled.

How to Pre-Order
Go to the order form and select "Q960 Pre-Order" or "Q962 Pre-Order" (At the bottom of the module section), enter your complete shipping and payment information. You will be sent a quotation with shipping charges to approve of.
